<p class="bodytext">The Siddaramaiah administration has re-sent six key bills to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, including one that removes his power to appoint the vice-chancellor at the rural development university.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Three of the six bills are pending gubernatorial assent for nearly a year now. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The Karnataka State Rural Development & Panchayat Raj University (Amendment) bill, which was passed in December 2024, has been sent to Raj Bhavan again after Gehlot returned it.</p>.<p class="bodytext">This bill replaces the governor with the chief minister as chancellor of the university. This also means that the vice-chancellor will be appointed by the CM and not governor. </p>.Upparas found to be most backward of 22 communities.<p class="bodytext">Another bill passed in December to revamp the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) on the lines of Bengaluru Development Authority has been sent to Gehlot for his assent. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) (conduct of business and additional functions) (amendment) bill, which was passed during the budget session of the legislature in March, had been sent back by Gehlot.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The government has re-sent this bill, which proposes to do away with the requirement that the government consult the KPSC while making rules. Three other bills were passed in July last year.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Gadag Betageri Business, Culture and Exhibition Authority Bill, the Karnataka Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill and the Karnataka Souharda Sahakari (Amendment) Bill have been sent to Raj Bhavan again. Gehlot had returned the bills citing various concerns. </p>
