Four policemen, including a police sub-inspector (PSI), have been arrested in connection with the case of missing and murder of history-sheeter Gangadhar Chadachana.

He is the brother of history-sheeter Dharmaraj Chadachana, who had died in a police encounter.

This was announced by Nikkam Prakash Amrit, the district Superintendent of Police.

The arrested are PSI Gopal Hallur (who had earlier served in the Chadachana police station) and constables Siddaroodha Roogi, Chandrashekar Jadhav and Geddappa Naikodi. They were produced before the JMFC court, which remanded them in judicial custody till June 28.

History-sheeters Hanamantha Poojari and Siddagundappa Tikkundi have already been arrested. The main suspect in the case, Congress leader Mahadeva Bhairagonda, is still on the run and a special team is on the hunt for him, Nikkam said.

CID to probe case

The SP said the case will be handed over to the CID for investigation.
