Woman dies after tree falls on car on hospital premises in Karnataka

Karwar, DHNS: A 56-year-old woman died after a huge tree fell on the car she was travelling, in Karwar on Sunday.

The victim, Lakshmi Namsekar had brought her pregnant daughter-in-law to a private hospital on Pikale Road for a check-up. The daughter-in-law got down from the vehicle and entered hospital premises. Lakshmi, who was seated in the rear of the car was unable to open the door.

By the time the driver opened the door, a huge tree beneath which the car was parked, uprooted and fell on the vehicle. Fire and Emergency Services personnel, along with workers from the Karwar City Municipal Council, managed to drag Lakshmi out of the car, but she had died by that time. The driver had a miraculous escape.
