<p>Mysuru: Women have been excelling in almost all fields, posing a stiff challenge to their male counterparts. While those in prestigious posts and white collared jobs earn good salaries, for a few women, 'service is the motto'. They are content with serving the people, free of cost, for the betterment of the society.</p>.<p>R Yashodha and Jayanthi Giridhar have been serving a section of the society, in their own capacity, not expecting any monetary benefits.</p>.<p>Yashodha, a 46-year-old woman, has helped hundreds of people, especially those belonging to the lower economic strata. She runs a Common Service Centre (CSC) at Gandhi Nagar in Mysuru, from 2014. She has been helping hundreds of old and bedridden patients, who are not able to visit the centres to get government benefits and others. </p>.Over 9k people participate in Karnataka Police run-2025 in Mysuru.<p>Speaking to <em>DH</em>, Yashodha said, "I worked in a petrol bunk and did other menial jobs. I always wanted to help the poor and needy, in any possible way. As it is not possible with such jobs, I started the CSC. My focus was on bedridden and old patients, who were not aware of the government healthcare benefits, which is up to Rs 5 lakh. Hence, I visit Jayadeva and KR Hospitals and help those in need. I get their work done in any issue, related to BPL cards and others. Till now, I have helped around 400 people, to undergo surgeries, utilising government benefits."</p>.<p>Yashodha also received a national award - First woman spotlight in VLE (Village Level Entrepreneur) award in New Delhi in December 2024. She has also represented Karnataka for registering transgender under e-Shram card, and participated in a programme held in Gujarat. </p>.<p><strong>Jayanthi Giridhar</strong></p>.<p>At a time when private tuition centres demand exorbitant fee to coach the students for a particular subject, Jayanthi Giridhar, 42, a resident of JSS Layout in Mysuru city, has been coaching students in Mathematics, a subject which is a nightmare for majority of the students, free of cost.</p>.<p>A native of Srirangam, Trichy, Tamil Nadu, Jayanthi has a degree in BSc Mathematics. She started coaching the students in Mathematics, when one of her husband's colleagues, in their official quarters, requested her to coach his daughter.</p>.<p class="bodytext">She has given free Maths coaching to more than 25 students over the past 10 years. "I am very selective and teach only those students in real need. I don't encourage those who are not really interested to learn. Understanding the concept and working out the problems is the only secret to score good marks in Maths."</p>.<p class="bodytext">"The students come to me with a preconceived notion that Maths is a tough subject. I instill confidence and make them understand that Maths is also like any other subjects. It is very interesting, if the students understand the concept. Many of my students, who joined me hating the subject, were in love with the subject while leaving," says Jayanthi.</p>.<p class="bodytext">She coaches students with State, CBSE and ICSE syllabus also. I am doing this for my self satisfaction. It will not change, she said.</p>
