Passenger suffers jaw dislocation mid-journey! Indian Railway Doctor comes to the rescue

A 24-year-old passenger travelling on Train No. 22503 Kanniyakumari – Dibrugarh Vivek Express, yesterday, received quick medical attention at Palakkad Junction after reportedly suffering a jaw dislocation mid-journey. It was the swift reaction of railway staff which ensured that the passenger received required medical help when the train was passing through Palakkad division.

Dr. Jithin P. S., Divisional Medical Officer (DMO) at the Railway Hospital, Palakkad, reached the station and attended to the passenger within no time. After examining the condition, he ensured required medical care to the passenger and managed the dislocation on the spot. It was a great sigh of relief for everyone to see that passenger’s condition was stabilised.

Southern Railway in a video post on X (formerly known as Twitter) said, "Quick medical aid at Palakkad Junction. A 24-year-old passenger traveling on Train No. 22503 Kanniyakumari – Dibrugarh Vivek Express suffered a Jaw dislocation and received timely medical assistance from Dr. Jithin P.S., DMO/RH Palakkad. The passenger resumed the journey safely."

It was great to see how timely coordination between onboard staff and the medical team at Palakkad Junction played a crucial role in handling the emergency efficiently, or else it could have been worse for the passenger. The also shows the preparedness of the railway medical units to handle such serious issues during long-distance journeys.

The incident once again highlighted how important it is to have trained personnel at key railway stations.
