<p>Mumbai: The BJP government's working style is disrupting communal harmony in Maharashtra, state Congress president Harshavardhan Sapkal said slamming the Devendra Fadnavis-led MahaYuti dispensation for running the administration in an authoritarian manner.</p><p>“Maharashtra is no longer governed by the rule of law; the ruling party members are instilling fear and undermining parliamentary democracy. The spirit of unity among different castes and religions is being eroded. The very core of unity in diversity is under threat,” he said. </p><p>Sapkal’s comments came in Sindhudurg, the bastion of former chief minister Narayan Rane, who is the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg MP of BJP.</p><p>Rane’s older son Nilesh is a Shiv Sena MLA from Kudal and Nitesh is a BJP MLA from Kankavli and the state Forest and Fisheries Minister. </p>.Supriya Sule criticises Maharashtra Special Public Security Act Bill . <p>“Konkan is a land blessed with natural beauty and cultural heritage. This region is the birthplace of Jnanpith Award-winning writer V.S. Khandekar and the district of Mangesh Padgaonkar, who spread the message of love. It has also given India great leaders like Madhu Dandavate and Nath Pai. The district has produced remarkable Members of Parliament who set an example of civility, culture, and democratic values. However, today, some individuals in this very district are spreading toxicity through their words,” he said. </p><p>“One minister claims, "whatever we do is the law," while another MLA behaves recklessly. There are threats that funds will not be given if people do not support their party. All of this is a deliberate attempt to undermine Maharashtra’s values,” added Sapkal.</p><p>“Narayan Rane switched to Congress from another party (Shiv Sena) and remained for 12 years, spending nine of those in power. Even after losing, Congress nominated him to the Legislative Council. However, he later left the party for another. He had joined Congress because it had both power and grassroots workers, but the moment power was gone, he departed. However, despite his exit, Congress still has a significant number of committed workers and supporters in Sindhudurg,” Sapkal asserted.</p><p>Sapkal said that the district’s Guardian Minister intends to create social divisions and dismantle cultural values. “In the coming days, this district must be turned into a Congress stronghold. Congress workers must have confidence, take to the streets, protest, and work on public issues. They should work with the spirit of "Jhukega Nahi Sala" (I will not bow down) from the film Pushpa. The Congress party must win the upcoming local body elections, and its presence must be visible in every taluka, ward, and gram panchayat. Congress is a movement, and its ideology must remain alive and reach every household in the district,” he said.</p>
