<p>Days after the Supreme Court refused to interfere on the issue of uniform civil code, All India Muslim Personal Law Board, an apex body of the Muslims in the country, expressed serious concerns over what it apprehended as a possible attempt to “tamper with” the Constitution for enactment of the same.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The issue came for discussion at the meeting of the executive committee of the AIMPLB in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district, about 400 km from here, on Wednesday. The Board has organised a “Deen o Dastoor Bachao” (save religion and related laws) Conference at Amroha.<br /><br />“We are obviously concerned...the vibes we are getting are certainly cause for concern...the ministers are talking in different languages,” said Kamal Faruqi, the Convener of the conference.<br /><br />The apex court, a couple of days ago, said it was left to Parliament to take a call on enactment of a uniform civil code.<br /><br />Faruqi told Deccan Herald over phone from Amroha that the Board would oppose any attempt to “tamper with” the Constitution and the personal laws relating to the Muslim community.<br /></p>
