<p class="bodytext">Some years ago, I had first seen her, with her spouse, solicitously feeding the Lalbagh strays with several packs of crunchy biscuits. The canines too copiously responded to the couple’s care and compassion by constant waggling of their curvy tails.</p>.<p class="bodytext">During my daily jog, as I sprinted past her, I always saw something singularly striking about her simple demeanour and smiling countenance. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Later, for a few months, I had fully forgotten about her but found her again at a fun fest. My son had stepped into the portals of a prestigious medical institution to pursue his specialisation in surgery. It was the annual day fest, and the atmosphere was charged with abundant euphoria and excitement. In such a scenario I spotted her again. </p>.<p class="bodytext">She was multitasking and merrily partaking in myriad activities, exhibiting her multifaceted self, besides mischievously mimicking the mannerisms of many of her colleagues over the microphone. I slowly learnt that she was the super dynamic Dr. Poornima Murthy, who, with sublime efficiency, was heading the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, besides being the DNB course director. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Now, recently, I happened to see her again. That was when I had a small, yet tricky medical issue that had to be tackled tactfully. I knew, her being superlatively skilful, this issue would be something of a small task for her. And that she’d successfully accomplish it, quite seamlessly and swimmingly. Which she did, to my surprise. </p>.<p class="bodytext">But, the actual surprise was when she simply tried waiving off her service charges, under strong professional ethics! Since my son, now a super-specialist, was her former student. And, according to her, the payment couldn’t be accepted by the parents of fellow doctors! Of course, to which we didn’t accede. And, with deadly difficulty, tried paying off for her diligent work. Truly, I was bowled over by her benign, bedazzling persona, brimming over with such bountiful simplicity. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Indubitably, what makes a person inordinately adorable is not their immense cerebral calibre, or infinite wealth, or incredible looks. Instead, the things that make them more magnetic and endearing are their main qualities of being ‘modest and simple’—which ’are like mesmerising gems in the magnificent crown of their persona!</p>
