<p>Firebrand Trinamool Congress MP <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/mahua-moitra">Mahua Moitra</a> has married former BJD member and and a senior advocate at the Supreme Court Pinaki Misra. </p><p>Though the couple purportedly got married a few weeks back in Berlin, the pictures of Moitra and Mishra went viral on social media on Thursday, prompting many to congratulate the newlyweds and convey best wishes. </p><p>“Thank you, everyone, for the love and good wishes!! So grateful!” Moitra, 50, wrote on X, posting a picture of her and Mishra, 65, together, cutting a cake, decked with miniature dolls, which looked like the couple.</p><p>The wedding took place last month, on May 3, reportedly but Moitra had been so far tight-lipped about the development.</p><p>The TMC sources said that Moitra had informed West Bengal chief minister and the party supremo, Mamata Banerjee, about her decision to tie the nuptial knot with Misra and obtained her blessing.</p><p>She is expected to return from Berlin soon and restart working for the party in the assembly segments within her constituency, Krishnanagar in West Bengal, as the assembly elections in the state are only about a year away, a TMC leader said on Thursday.</p><p>TMC MP Saayoni Ghosh on congratulated the two over the wedding.</p>.<p>"Congratulations Mm & Pm... @MahuaMoitra @OfPinaki wishing you a lifetime of love and laughter," Ghosh posted on X, sharing a photograph of herself with Moitra, Mishra, and fellow TMC MP June Maliah.</p>.Mahua Moitra moves SC challenging Waqf (Amendment) Act.<p><strong>Who is Pinaki Misra?</strong></p><p>Mishra, an eminent lawyer, had contested and won the Lok Sabha elections from Puri in Odisha in 1996 as a candidate of the Congress. He later switched to the BJD, which fielded him in Puri and got him elected to the Lok Sabha in 2009, 2014 and 2021. He was, however, denied the BJP ticket in 2024.</p><p>He is also a senior advocate in the Supreme Court and has fought cases in many high courts in the country and major tribunals, according to reports. </p><p>He was previously married to Sangita Misra and has one son and daughter from that marriage. </p>.Government will use judge cash row to push for control on judges' appointments: Mahua Moitra.<p>He holds a B.A. (Hons) History degree from St Stephen's College in Delhi and an LL.B from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, reports said.</p><p>Mahua was previously married to Danish financier Lars Brorson and later divorced him. She was in a relationship with advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai for a while after that which ended after a highly publicised legal battle.</p><p>Moitra, a former investment banker, joined the ‘<em>Aam Aadmi ki Sipahi</em>’ launched by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in 2009. She switched to TMC in 2010. She was first elected to the West Bengal assembly in 2016 from the Karimpur assembly constituency in the state.
