<p>Lucknow: One may have heard of banks seizing assets and auctioning them if a borrower fails to pay the loan but in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district a private bank staff allegedly held a woman hostage for several hours as her husband had failed to pay the installments of the loan on time.</p><p>The woman, identified as Pooja Verma, in a written complaint to the police said that she was made to sit in the bank for more than five hours and that she was freed only after the police reached there after being informed about the matter.</p><p>According to the reports, Ravindra Verma, a resident of Babai Road, had taken a loan of Rs 40 thousand from the bank. Ravindra’s pleadings to let his wife go fell on deaf ears.</p><p>Ravindra informed the cops about the matter following which a police team reached the bank and rescued the woman.</p><p>The bank officials claimed that the woman was not held hostage and that she sat in the bank on her own.</p><p>The woman, however, lodged a complaint with the police alleging that she was made to sit in the bank for more than five hours.</p><p>Police said that they were investigating the matter.</p>
