The fest titled, Urja, an inter-class, day-long science fest, was held for all the I and II PUC students.

The idea of such a fest was to create awareness about the significance of science and to tap inherent skills of the Carmelites, in innovative and challenging ways.

Veena, presided over the inaugural ceremony along with Sr M Sonia, Principal, Mount Carmel PU College and enthused Carmelites to use their latent skills to harness and conserve the latent energy in mother nature.

The day was filled with a variety of engrossing competitions conducted by the various science departments, That included mind teasers like the Physics-Chemistry quiz competition, crossword challenge, model-making, sudoku and a Mathematics treasure hunt.

The Home Science Association organised the ‘best out of waste’, in keeping with the fest theme of eco-friendliness and ‘cooking without fire’. They wanted to convey the message of conserving energy resources.

The Biology Department organised ‘Guess Who?!’, an awareness initiative to shed light on scientists who altered the course of human history for the better. The Urja rolling trophy was bagged by Bhavini Purohit of II PCMB ‘A’ for winning the most number of prizes during the competition.

Chitra and Smitha, the fest co-ordinators, commended the immense talent in the campus and said that such fests motivate the students to not only think creatively and innovatively during the fest but also help them make significant decisions about their career and vocation as well.
