Actor-producer Rahul trusts Trataka director

Last Updated 24 August 2018, 15:19 IST

Actor-producer Rahul Ainapur is looking forward to the release of his upcoming movie Trataka, directed by Shiva Ganesh, that will hit the screens on Friday. Rahul has acted in ‘Ramya Chaitra Kaara’, ‘Taare’ where he was seen with Diganth and also worked with Shiva Ganesh on ‘Akhada’, which will release later this year.

In a candid chat with Tini Sara Anien, he talks about his movies and more.

Tell us a bit about Trataka.

The word refers to meditation and the movie is connected to the concept. Trataka is a murder-mystery and a cop’s story, where his brother is killed. The cop is on a search for the killers.

What role do you play?

I play the role of ACP Jaidev. He has Complex Partial Seizure and blacks out at regular intervals and it was quite thrilling to portray such a character. He is a very quiet person and loves helping people.

How close are you to the role you portray?

I am very different from ACP Jaidev. He is a very reserved person who is quite stressed. I am a jolly and fun-loving person and I don’t worry too much about things.

You are the lead actor and producer of the film. Was it challenging to manage these two roles?

It was a Herculean learning experience. The film started because of my bond with Shiva Ganesh, the director. We have been friends for 10 years.

He structured the character keeping me in mind. It is not easy to hold everyone on the sets together but I am glad that we were able to do it. There were ups and downs while we were shooting but we worked through it as a team. When I realised that I had done justice to my role, everything was okay.

Where you ever tensed about carrying the film on your shoulders?

I was not tensed as I knew that the film was in safe hands. I had worked with the director on the sets of Akhada more than 10 years ago and I never felt stressed then too. I trust him and the cameraman entirely.

A lot of movies in Sandalwood are thrillers and murder mysteries. How will Trataka stand out?

The film has a lot of elements including its music and screenplay, which will keep the audience at the edge of their seats.

The entertainment value of the film will make it stand out from the crowd.

Did you have to do any homework for the film?

I attended some theatre classes and acting workshops. They helped me become confident about my role.

I want to go back to these workshops as they were very refreshing. I realised that there is so much to learn about acting through them.

Was the Trataka experience different from other films?

Yes. I couldn’t suggest changes or give such lavish opinions on other sets but I had a say in things here. The team and I shared the same wavelength which made things easier. I am excited about working with Shiva Ganesha again and we hope to work on another film by the end of 2018.
