<p>After a year of faring through the pandemic, Bengaluru-based progressive & psychedelic rock band Dark Light recently performed for a live audience. The gig was a tribute to one of their heaviest influences: Pink Floyd. </p>.<p>The band has been in the scene since 2013 and is known for its ethereal and ambient soundscapes, detailed-elaborate instrumentation and evocative vocals.</p>.<p>The quartet comprises Jose Xavier (lyrics/vocals), Mohammed Uvais (guitars/bass), Anand Pilakkat (keyboards/Sampling), & Subir Telang (drums).</p>.<p>The band puts an emphasis on building narratives and storytelling both through their words and music, with intricate instrumental sections seamlessly blending with the<br />vocals.</p>.<p>Other than Pink Floyd, the band derives its influence from class acts such as Guns ‘n’ Roses, U2, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, etc.</p>.<p>In a candid interview with <span class="italic">Metrolife</span>, vocalist Jose Xavier spoke about their upcoming gigs and their debut album, ‘In Space and Time’.</p>.<p class="Question">How did you come together as a band?</p>.<p>We met through mutual friends and acquaintances, and some of us have worked together on other musical projects before.</p>.<p class="Question">Which genre defines your music the best? </p>.<p>We would describe our music as psychedelic/ progressive rock, but we are not bound by any genre stylistically. We believe in creating music that tells a story, but importantly, music that moves the listener.</p>.<p class="Question">What inspires you to make music? </p>.<p>We are inspired by life in general and the music we love. Also all the bands and artists we look up to continue to inspire us to create more original content.</p>.<p class="Question">Were there any roadblocks while making and releasing an album amidst the pandemic? </p>.<p>We had composed the album before the pandemic struck, but it was a difficult decision to release the album during an uncertain time. But we are glad that we made our contribution when people needed it the most.</p>.<p class="Question">What does your latest album talk about?</p>.<p>‘In Space and Time’ deals with various themes such as love, heartbreak and spirituality.</p>
