Just days after the attack on four African youths at Kothanur in the City, a 29-year-old Congo national was attacked by a few men near AECS Layout in Mahadevapura on Sunday afternoon.

The police said unidentified persons attacked AECS Layout-resident Mandehero, the employee of a private company in Whitefield, with cricket bats and stones when he was on his way to a friend’s place.

Mandehero managed to escape by entering a paying guest accommodation nearby. He then called up his friends, who informed the cops and took him to the police station.
One of Mandehero’s friends told Deccan Herald: “At 2 pm, when Mandehero was going to his friend’s house, two men stopped him and asked him to talk in Kannada. But Mandehero said he did not know the language. They started manhandling him. When he tried to stop them, they attacked him with cricket bats and stones.”

Meanwhile, a group of local residents had lodged a complaint with the police accusing Mandehero of offering Rs 500 to a woman working in a laundry in AECS Layout seeking sexual favours a few days ago.

The woman didn’t confront him as her husband was away. When he returned, she narrated the incident to him. He, with some locals, confronted the Congolese and attacked him, said the police, quoting the complaint by the locals.

A senior police officer said that both the parties had lodged complaints against each other and investigation is on.
