The Supreme Court on Monday refused to consider a plea filed by Soumendu Adhikari, brother of ex-TMC MP Suvendu Adhikari, against his removal from Chairmanship of a local municipality board.

Adhikari had approached the apex court against the adjournment of his case in the Calcutta High Court, which had not passed any order on February 4 and deferred his petition to March.

A bench presided over by Justice N V Ramana asked him to wait for the HC order.

He alleged that he was removed due to petty politics after his elder brother, Suvendu, resigned from TMC to join BJP.

He had served as chairman of Contai Municipality for two terms. His second term had expired on May 19, 2020. He was appointed as chairman of Board of Administrator as general elections could not be held due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
