Mangaluru woman's husband, police constable held for sexually assaulting her

The woman has alleged that her husband coerced her to have sexual relations with other men and even recorded the act which he used to blackmail her.

Mangaluru: Kankanady Town Police have arrested a police constable and the husband of a woman on charges of sexually assaulting her.

The arrested constable is Chandra Naik.

City Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said that in her written complaint, the victim stated that her husband coerced her into having sexual relations with another man for money. He allegedly recorded a video of the act and later threatened to share it on social media unless she complied with further demands to engage with other men.

The victim then sought help from Chandra Naik, a police constable from Kavoor Police Station known to her. To help the victim, Chandra Naik visited her home and deleted the photos and videos from her husband’s phone. However, he later allegedly took advantage of the situation and under the influence of her husband, sexually assaulted her, the victim said in her complaint.

Following her complaint, a case was registered at Kankanady Town Police Station. The police arrested the police constable and the victim's husband. The investigation is in progress.
