Kill me, I roam around without security: Owaisi

Last Updated 25 July 2019, 10:58 IST

Apparently fed up by the Owaisi centric campaign unleashed by BJP and Prajakutami, the All India Majlis E Ittahadul Muslimeen Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday said that the Goshamahal BJP candidate Raja Singh can go ahead and kill him between 5 am and 10 pm any time as he goes around old city without any security.

At a meet the press here, Asad said that he was pained by the constant barbs thrown at him by the BJP leaders including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP Chief Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and others. “Yogi says that he will drive the Owaisi’s out of Hyderabad, Raja Singh says he will kill me if leave my security at home and come out. What kind of campaign is this,” Asad wondered.

“The trend of hate politics will continue in this country as far as the voters don’t ask why. Why don’t voters stop a leader when he says that he will slash the neck of Asad,” he said adding that he also has to learn how not to hurt others feelings while campaigning. He refused to agree that MIM seeks votes on the lines of religion. “All my MIM legislators work for every single voter of the constituency, irrespective of caste and creed,” he said. He exuded confidence that MIM will win all the eight seats it is contesting but will not take part in the TRS government.

Rahul should learn Humility

Answering a question about MIM’s tilt towards TRS, Asad said that TRS has done some good work for the welfare of the Muslims and hence his party decided to lend a helping hand in those areas where MIM was not contesting. “Rahul calls us “C” Team to BJP. I want him to learn humility and also learn history,” he said.

Recalling the 1999 incident where the police cane-charged him rendering him to a hospital bed for long, Asad alleged that it was the Chandrababu Naidu government that resorted to such a step only to stop him from campaigning for Congress. “Similarly I was sent to Chanchalguda jail by Congress to convince Jaganmohan Reddy to vote for Pranab Mukherjee. He further wanted Rahul to check his facts as he didn’t campaign in Assam elections. He further said that MIM need not be a part of either UPA or NDA as he doesn’t believe that the Indian politics is bi-polar.

UP CM is callous

Commenting on the riots in Bulandshahr and the killing of a station officer, Asad said that chief minister Yogi should have stayed back to set his house right rather than flying to Telangana for the election campaign. “Particularly when the accused are of Bajrang Dal the CM should have been more careful,” Asad said. He felt that attacks on Muslims, SC ST and now uniformed men in UP are on the rise in BJP rule.

Responding to the comment of Yogi that he would chase away Owaisi from Hyderabad he said Indian Muslims are Indians by choice as they have decided not to accept Jinnah’s theory and wanted to stay back in India. “Indian Muslims are stakeholders who want a partnership. Give us our partnership in the society, in the politics and general walk of life,” Asad said.
