R Madhavan appointed as the new CMD of HAL

The central government on Thursday appointed R Madhavan as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the next five years.

Madhavan, currently an executive director of the HAL will take over from incumbent T Suvarna Raju on September 1, 2018.

“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Department of Defence Production for appointment of R Madhavan to the post of CMD in HAL in the pay scale of Rs 80,000-1,25,000 for a period of five years with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post on or after 01.09.2018,” the Department of Personnel and Training said in an order.

Necessary communication in this regard has been sent to the Department of Defence Production, it added.

The Public Enterprise Selection Board in May recommended Madhavan's name as the next CMD of HAL after interviewing four candidates, three of which were from HAL.
