Nine police personnel accused in a custodial death case in Kerala will face dismissal from service as the state cabinet on Monday approved a judicial commission report into the incident.

Rajkumar, 49, a private finance firm operator, died allegedly following custodial torture at the Nedumgandam police station in Idukki in June 2019. Nine police personnel, including a sub-inspector, were charge-sheeted by the CBI in the custodial death while the role of senior officers is still under probe.

The Justice K Narayana Kurup commission that probed the custodial death concluded that custodial torture led to Rajkumar's death and recommended that those responsible should be dismissed from service.
