<p>Music is considered essential for the well being of a man. The age-old Vedic practice of using music as a healing agent is called as Gandharva Veda. The great maestro Ustad Bismillah Khan when he was awarded T Chowdiah National Award said – “Music has no caste, creed or colour and has the mystical power of uniting people.” As he has pointed out, music, has its importance to society in its mystical power of uniting people, since there is a true relation between man and music.<br /><br />In the cow sheds of Tirupathi Devasthanam, music is played before milking the cows and in that congenial atmosphere the yield tends to be more. In incubators where pre mature babies are kept soft music will be played so as to connect the baby to life and to the outside world.<br /><br />In 18th century, one German scientist proved that there is ‘life’ in ragas in the form of rhythm and that ragas can create or alter shapes.
