Birth and death are part and parcel of life. How to make the living between birth and death better? Each one of us cannot be the President or the Prime Minister. Very few become chief ministers or ministers. All of us aspire to be celebrities -- famous, rich, and powerful.
.
Do not despair if you are not rich and famous or if you do not have a fancy degree, qualification or if you are not an artist. Are you just ‘mediocre’, eking out your livelihood with struggle… just making both ends meet? You don’t have anything great to look forward to? You wish you were a famous actor, sports person, a powerful chief executive of a company, or popular politician. You are none. You are in doldrums.
.
Living in despondency is not the way. Let me enunciate the art of better living. What do you have to do for a better living? You do not need wealth or higher education for this. You can build upon whatever you have now just by trying ‘better living’. All you have to do is to make yourself a better person.
.
Let me explain. Cannot you make yourself a better husband? If you are a woman a better wife? If you become a better husband, you will experience the results. Be a better father, a better parent. Be a better son. Be a better brother. Be a better employee. Be a better citizen.
.
We have to play multitude of roles in real life. If we try to do better in each one of these roles, our lives become better.
.
Let us add to our personality brick by brick. Whatever modest position we are in, we can set challenges for ourselves to improve in every role that we are playing. Take small
strides but do not stop. You will experience happiness in the progress you make every day.
.
Be a better spouse, a better parent, a better sibling, a better offspring, a better friend and so on. Do not hanker after position or power. Nobody can stop you from being better than what you are. If you are overweight, you can set out to reduce your weight. If you are impulsive, you can keep a watch on your reactions.
.
Man is a bundle of weaknesses. Make that bundle lighter. Make yourself better.
