The residents of Makkandooru, Mukkodlu and Kalooru villages have urged the district administration to respond to the woes of natural calamity victims.

“The victims are in distress after having lost their houses and property. In such a scenario, the authorities are working on the laying of a railway line at Makkandooru. Leave aside the railway line project and respond to the woes of the natural calamity victims,” said the villagers, in a press meet on Saturday.

Villagers Hanchettira Manu Muddappa and Kalachanda Pavan Thimmaiah said, “The proposal on the railway line and four-laning of the road will only inconvenience the residents of the villages.”

Villagers said that compensation has not reached natural calamity-hit villages of Mukkodlu, Kalooru and Makkandooru. The village residents cannot live in such villages from June to November, during monsoon, they pointed out.

“On the other hand, agriculture crops have been damaged completely. Paddy fields are filled with silt,” they complained.

The village residents also demanded a permanent solution to the problem before the monsoon.
