Forest Department officials arrested two persons for illegally transporting sandalwood worth Rs 10 lakh in Banavara Reserve Forest.
The sandalwood and the vehicle used for transportation have been seized.
Based on accurate information, the Forest Department staff under the guidance of Somwarpet RFO Lakshmikanth, Banavara DRFO Mahadeva Nayak and other staff conducted a raid in Chikka Aluvara in Torenuru Gram Panchayat limits and arrested Shivarajkumar and Dilip of Chikka Aluvara village.
Two more persons involved in the transportation of sandalwood, Nagarahu Arisinaguppe and Nagaraju from Aluvara village are absconding.
A case has been registered.
