This World Nutrition Day, pay attention to yourself and see what you can do to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

A well-balanced diet with regular physical activity is the recipe for good health.

Poor nutrition can lead to reduced immunity, impaired physical and mental development, and reduced productivity.

Here are some tips to keep in mind:

Consume a variety of foods to get as many different nutrients as you can.

Add produce, whole grains, fish and nuts to your diet.

Replace supplements with the real thing whenever you can.

Avoid anything with added sugar or trans fats.

Keep sodium levels down and potassium levels up.

Make sure you’re getting a good amount of calcium and vitamin D.

Watch your portions, eat until your 80% full.

Drink around eight glasses of water a day.

A healthy diet isn’t enough, a good daily routine is imperative.

Have a high general level of activity- stretch once in a while and do at least 10 minutes of exercise daily.

Unlike the three meals a day that we’re used to, five meals a day is actually ideal for your body.

Get a good night’s rest with about six or seven hours of sleep.

Give yourself a break. Don’t overwork.
