Jawahar Sports Club emerge champions

Jawahar Sports Club strolled to a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over Vultures Cricket Club to clinch the title in the KSCA Group I, Division (I, II & III), under-19 inter-club cricket tournament at the Alur ground on Monday.

Jawahar were powered by a fine bowling effort from Shreyas BM, who bagged nine wickets in the match.

Batting first, Vultures were shot out for just 141 as Shreyas returned impressive figures of 5/48. He was supported by Punith (3/35). Kushal Wadhwani’s effective spell of bowling (6/27) ensured Vultures managed to claw their way back in to the game by restricting Jawahar to 162 in the first innings.

Vultures then capitulated for 136 in the second innings with Shreyas being chief destructor again, claiming 4/12.

Jawahar, needing 116 to win, rode on Nikin Jose’s unbeaten half-century (50 not out) and won by eight wickets.

Anirudh shines
An all-round show from Anirudh (5/28, 50) propelled VVS Sardar Patel High School to a five-wicket victory over St John’s High School in the under-16 Group I, Division II tournament for the KSCA Cup.

Sudarshan Vidya Mandir: 151/9 in 50 overs (Manoj 40; Aravind 2-23, Praatibh 2-26) lt to Ryan International School, Kundanahalli: 152/6 in 31.4 overs (Arvind 31, Sanjay 31 n.o.; Bhargav 3-20).

Ryan International School, Yelahanka: 127 all out in 43.1 overs (Achuth 29; Nikith 3-39, Nishanth 2-22, Bharat 2-21) lt to BNM School: 128/8 in 28.5 overs (Bharat BR 42; Steve 4-47, Achuth 4-17).
