<p>At the meeting involving the representatives of the BTC managing committee, the syces union, the Karnataka Trainers Association and the Karnataka Racehorse Owners Association, the BTC agreed to pay the Uniform Allowance and Good Conduct Bonus demanded by the syces. <br /><br />The Derby as well as the races scheduled for Saturday had been postponed to July 17 and 16 respectively after a strike by the syces last week.<br /><br />“We have decided to release the amount for the Uniform Allowance, which was actually only due at the end of the month, along with the Good Conduct bonus in a meeting with all the representatives concerned today,” Harindra Shetty, Steward and managing committee member, said.<br /><br />“The amount will be given to the trainers and they will hand it over to the syces on Thursday. Everything has been sorted out and the syces have agreed to officially call off the strike,” he added.<br /><br />The Provident fund issue, raised by the syces, was also believed to have been discussed at the meeting and it is understood that the BTC agreed to be a part of the negotiations. <br />The matter of the PF is in court, but it is understood that the BTC will now hold discussions with the KTA and KROA and look for ways to sort out the matter.<br /><br />A member of the KTA said they were happy with the outcome of the meeting. <br />“Thankfully it went on smoothly. All the issues were sorted out and the syces were happy with the decisions taken,” he said.<br /><br />“The money will be given to the individual trainers and they will then give it to the syces that work for them. Now I’m sure since all the problems have been smoothed over, the Derby can be run as scheduled,” he added.<br /><br />The BTC, KTA and KROA were under huge pressure to sort out the issue that stopped the richest ever race in India from going ahead last Sunday. <br /><br />The first sign of progress came on Sunday morning with the syces deciding to take the horses out and the BTC seeming ready to discuss the problems with the syces’ representatives.</p>
