Yuvraj Singh, who was named as the skipper to lead India ‘A’ against a West Indies ‘A’ side in a three-match one-day series that begins in Bangalore on September 15, arrived at the National Cricket Academy on Wednesday to prepare for what will be a crucial series for him.

The series, which also has a one-off T20, will offer a route to Yuvraj for getting back into the senior side – no mean task as MS Dhoni’s men have won the Champions Trophy as well as the tri-series in West Indies without the mercurial southpaw. Yuvraj’s team-mates for the series will start assembling here over the next few days.

Gambhir rejoins Essex

At Canterbury, opener Gautam Gambhir made a patient 36 during his side Essex’s County Championship Division Two four-day match against Kent, adds PTI from London.
Opening the batting, Gambhir played cautiously and faced 132 deliveries, hitting two boundaries at the St Lawrence Ground.
Gambhir was also selected to represent India ‘A’ against the touring West Indies ‘A’ side.
