The Karnataka unit of the BJP has started the process of putting in place a poll calendar of events for Lok Sabha elections and also fine-tune its micromanagement strategy for the big fight next year.

BJP legislators met early in the morning at Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi on Thursday, where the winter session of the legislature is on, to discuss the party’s plan of action for the polls.

The BJP will begin with strengthening its ‘Shakti Kendras’, a cluster of four to five polling booths, by appointing office-bearers, who will play the role of micro-level election managers for the party.

Each Shakti Kendra will have a social media incharge, a legal expert and a media incharge among others as its office-bearers. Five to six divisional conventions of the office-bearers will be held in the state in January and each one of the meetings will be addressed by BJP national president Amit
Shah.

For instance, the Bengaluru divisional convention will include the parliamentary segments of Bengaluru (North), (South), (Central), (Rural) and Chikkaballapur. Each convention will be attended by around 8,000 members.

Come February and the BJP is planning a series of rallies to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the dates and locations for the rallies have not been
finalised.

The BJP also plans to revive the 19-point formula for the party set by Shah ahead of the Assembly polls to strengthen its grassroots-level organisation.

These include forming booth committees, page pramukh, where each each worker is given responsibility for a page in the electoral rolls, carrying out social media work, creation of WhatsApp groups, gain feedback from people in constituency among others.
