Actor Jayanthi (Abhinaya Sharade) said it would be fatal for the Kannada film industry if dubbing of other language films is allowed like in other states.

She was responding to a felicitation at ‘Janapada Jaggali, Hasya Sanje’ programme organised at Thopina Thimmappa temple at Abalavadi in the taluk as part of Vaikunta Ekadashi.

Appealing to the people not to be swayed by other language cinema, she said Kannada movies need patronage of Kannadigas.

Ex-MLA and trustee of the temple D C Thammanna lamented over politics entering every nook and corner of villages, affecting the lives of the people adversely. “Festivals are the only hope to bring a feeling of oneness among people,” he said. Television actor Kote Nagaraju and Nage Maleraja Chandraju enthralled the audience with their comedy. Shivaramu and Muniraju presented folk programmes and songs.

Temple trust president Krishnegowda, trustees Puttaswamy, A T Karigowda and Ramakrishna, M N Anil Kumar, Doddarsinkere Mayappa, Lakshminarayan, Kalpana, Padma and Kusuma were present.
