He is replaced by Dr Chennamallaiah of Communicable Diseases Hospital, Bangalore Urban district. The undersecretary of Health and Family Department, Padamavati, has issued the orders on December 16.

Hundreds of workers of various organisations had complained against Dr Srinivasan during the visit of Health Department secretary, Ramanareddy, on December 10. They had accused Dr Srinivasan of indulging in corrupt practices and receiving bribe to the tune of thousands of rupees through touts for issuing disability certificate to physically-challenged persons.

The surgeon and his supporters had assaulted a youth who questioned his irregularities. They had complained that Dr Srinivasan transferred Dr Shivanna intentionally and exploits contract workers by making them to work beyond scheduled hours, the public had complained.

Ramana Reddy had assured of taking action at the earliest. The transfer order has come within a week of his visit.
