The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha will block Bengaluru-Mysuru highway on August 13 urging the government to meet various demands of the farmers.

Speaking at a meeting of the farmers in Pandavapura on Monday, legislator K S Puttannaiah said that more than 5,000 farmers will block the road at Srirangapatna by parking around 500 bullock carts. He said that the Sangha was well aware that blocking the road would cause inconvenience to public. “But, more than 2,000 metric tonnes of sugar cane is ripe for harvesting. The crop may wither away as the sugar factories have not begun crushing. The State government has adopted an enigmatic silence on the issue,” Puttannaiah said.
