Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asked women BJP workers to help party win May 12 Assembly polls by concentrating on booths.

Addressing the Karnataka BJP Mahila Morcha workers, via “Narendra Modi App,” the prime minister said if the party wins polling booths no power can defeat it in the elections.

“When we have to win polling booths we will have to bring out the Congress government’s false promises and misdeeds,” he added.

Modi said today the country is moving forward from women development to women-led development.

He said capable women have been given important portfolios in his Cabinet and pointed out that photos

of External Affairs and Defence ministers at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) ministerial meet in China showed that Sushma Swaraj and Nirmala Sitharaman, representing India, were the only women at the meet. “Both of them have had a connection to Karnataka,” he noted.

During his speech, Modi recalled the legacy of women leadership in Karnataka by remembering Kittur Rani Chennamma, Belawadi Mallamma, Rani Abbakka, Onake Obavva and Hindustani singer Gangubai Hangal.

The prime minister said he was also excited to know that there was a dedicated women team that worked behind Isro’s Mars Mission ‘Mangalyan.’

He also paid homage to sitting the BJP MLA and party candidate from Jayanagar constituency, B N Vijay Kumar, who died of a massive heart attack in Bengaluru on Friday.
