House construction for flood-hit from Dec 1

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Yeddyurappa said district in-charge ministers have been directed to commence construction work in their respective jurisdiction and monitor the reconstruction of villages and houses.

The CM said he would be participating in bhoomi pooja ceremony for construction of new houses in two villages of Gulbarga on Friday.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Thursday between the state government and the Seva Bharathi Karnataka of the RSS for construction of 2,371 houses in seven districts including Bijapur, Uttar Kannada, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bagalkot, and Gadag. Project coordinator Dinesh Hedge of Seva Bharathi and Disaster Management Secretary  H V Parshwanath inked the MoU in the presence of the chief minister.

Hegde said that each house will have a dimension of 287 sq ft at a cost of Rs 1.3 lakh. Construction of the houses will be completed by May next each.

Govind Prasad Srivastava, chairman and trustee of Govind Prasad Humanitarian Foundation, has signed an MoU with the state government to construct 540 houses for the flood victims of Harapanahalli in Davangere district.
