Last Updated 14 September 2018, 12:56 IST

Karnataka has decided to file an appeal before the Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal (MWDT) seeking a review of its August 14 verdict, wherein the state was allotted 13.52 tmc water.

The state will simultaneously file a special leave petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court, against the Tribunal's verdict within the next 15 days, said Water Resource Minister D K Shivakumar on Friday.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting headed by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Mahadayi, Shivakumar said, that there were divergent views expressed by irrigation and legal experts, on whether to file an appeal before the Tribunal, or not.

"However, it was decided that the state should file simultaneous appeals before both the Tribunal and the Supreme Court," he added.
