Arrangements will be made for vehicle drivers, including those of private vehicles whose services have been used for Lok Sabha elections, to cast their votes, Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati said.

She was speaking at a meeting on preparations for postal voting held here, on Tuesday.

Korlapati said the drivers of buses, jeeps, vans and other vehicles used for election purpose were not in a position to exercise their franchise.

“In this background, the RTO officials have been asked to prepare a list of vehicles to be deployed for the polling. The officials have been asked to collect a copy of driving licence (DL) and EPIC of the drivers. The drivers will be allowed to cast their votes at the polling booths where they have been deployed for work.”

Similarly, election duty certificates will be issued to allow the polling officials to cast their votes at the polling booths, where they have been deployed.

All those who are exercising their franchise through postal ballots should submit their request before April 12, she added.

The deputy commissioner said all the vehicles used for election purpose should mandatorily be fitted with GPS facility.
