JOIN USA 30-year-old youth committed suicide after murdering his paternal uncle and aunt and causing serious injuries to his cousin, in Aluru Siddapura in Somwarpet taluk, on Wednesday.
On Wednesday evening, Dilip, the accused, had picked up a fight with his uncle, Sudana Ganesh (63), a retired police officer, over a property issue.
The heated exchange of words soon led to a scuffle. In a fit of rage, Dilip attacked Ganesh with a machete. Ganesh’s wife S G Saroja (48) too was brutally attacked when she rushed to the rescue of her husband.
Dilip’s cousin Harshith, who returned to the house and attempted to disarm Dilip was also attacked by the accused.
Overcome by remorse, Dilip later committed suicide by hanging himself in the same house. When the neighbours rushed to the house, they found the three lying in a pool of blood. Saroja breathed her last and Harshith who was admitted to a hospital in Hassan is battling for his life.
Kodagu Superintendent of Police Dr Suman D Pennekar visited the spot.
Police sources informed that Dilip was the son of Sudana Bojappa, who was the brother of Sudana Ganesh.
Dilip often used to come to their house and pick quarrels over trivial issues.
Ganesh who had retired as head constable three years ago had filed many complaints against his nephew Dilip at the local police station.
The double murder had created shock waves in the village. The last rites of Ganesh and his wife Saroja were conducted on Thursday. Besides Harshith, Ganesh and Saroja are survived by two daughters, Asitha and Archana.
