The deceased, identified as L Siddaraju (34) of Hinkal, was admitted to a private hospital following fever on Wednesday last. The throat swab sample sent to a laboratory in Bangalore confirmed that Siddaraju was suffering from H1N1 influenza. However, he failed to respond to treatment and died on Sunday. Siddaraju’s death sparked off a protest at the private hospital accusing the Government of not providing proper treatment for him.

Later, police arrived at the scene and pacified the agitators. Meanwhile, wife of the deceased, Nagamani, children, Jeevan and Mamatha are admitted to K R Hospital for suspected H1N1.
