The Maski police have booked six persons of a particular community for allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans and celebrating terror attack on CRPF convoy in J&K, at Talekhan Masjid near here on Friday night.

Police Inspector Channaiah Hiremath told DH that based on the complaint lodged by Mahantesh Bhajantri, the Maski police have booked Khajasab, Bashasab, Ambannasab Bhavimani, Hussainsab, Rahimsab, Budnesab and Hussainsab Medikenal, all residents of Talekhan village.

The suspects are said to have celebrated the terror attack on CRPF convoy near Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday in which 49 jawans were killed by spraying each other with colour and bursting crackers.

After the news about Pulwama attack celebration by a few youths went viral on social media, a group of people from Talekhan and surrounding villages on Saturday tried to vandalise the masjid. The alert police, however, prevented it by wielding lathi to disperse the mob.

The district police have upped the security in Talekhan.

The activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat staged a roadblock near Maski old bus stand on Saturday, demanding that the anti-India elements be arrested.

Raichur SP Kishorbabu told DH that three youths have been arrested in connection with the anti-India sloganeering and celebrations of the dastardly killing of CRPF jawans in J&K. However, no complaint has been lodged in connection with a ruckus in front of the masjid, he added.
