Speed up deptl probe, says chief secretary

Taking cognisance of undue delay in completing departmental enquiries, Chief Secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar has directed all department heads to ensure all probes are completed in a time-bound manner.

Many officials have retired when there was an ongoing probe against them as departmental probes took years to complete. Though the government had withheld pension benefits from these officials, the delay has cost more than a thousand employees their promotion, Vijay Bhaskar stated in a recent circular.

Though there have been directions to complete departmental probes on a time-bound manner, none of the disciplinary authorities has followed them. The undue delay caused in such probes is being considered seriously by the state government, he said.
