Dear Madam,

I am a Mechanical Engineer and am currently working in West Asia. I want to pursue an MBA in Supply Chain Management. Does MBA in SCM have a good scope? What should my GMAT score be?

Mohammed Mohsin

Dear Mohammed,

Logistics, customer service, transportation, production planning, warehouse operations, shipping, export, material handling are crucial areas in every industry and need the best and the most talented to oversee and manage. Hence, there will always be a demand for supply chain managers and analysts. A good GMAT score to pursue an MBA in Supply Chain Management would be 715 and above.

Dear Madam,

My daughter is studying in II PUC. She is interested in teaching profession and wants to study in a foreign university. Please suggest a good course.

A parent

Dear Parent,

A qualification in teaching from a reputed university will stand her in good stead in the teaching profession in any country. I would recommend New Zealand and the UK for this course as they both offer a three-year degree and need just an IELTS academic test along with II PU marks as an entry requirement. Tuition and living expenses are similar in both countries. It would cost you around Rs 20 lakhs per year all put together. With a student visa, she will be allowed to work for 20 hours a week and 40 hours during weekends and holidays. While the UK gives you a two-year post study work visa, New Zealand gives a three-year post study work visa. Teachers are in very high demand in New Zealand and their universities offer a range of teaching courses. Most students get immediate placements after the course. She should first pursue a BA in Education. If she wishes to specialise in a particular area like special education, primary years, secondary years etc., she may do so after her bachelors.

Dear Madam,

My son is studying in I PUC (PCMC), and wishes to become a commercial pilot. Please suggest some schools abroad. What is the education qualification required, approximate fee and the job opportunities.

Subhashini

Dear Subhashini,

Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Purdue School of Aviation and Technology, Ohio State University’s Center for Aviation Studies, Western Michigan University and University of North Dakota are known for their pilot training degrees in the US.
Kingston University London, University of Leeds, Brunel University London, University of Hertfordshire, University of Sheffield and University of Salford are the best in the UK for pilot studies.
These courses are for a duration of four years in the US and three years in the UK. Apart from the regular tuition fee, there will be an additional fee for pilot training. This will vary depending on the university and country. Generally annual tuition fees in the UK is around 12000 GBP to 20000 GBP while in the US it is approximately 60000 USD.
Entry requirement is a good percentage in high school and an English test like IELTS academic or TOEFL iBT.
With so many international and domestic airlines operating, there will always be a demand for good commercial pilots.
