Apple to bring foldable iPhone in 2026

Samsung will be supplying the bendable screen for the Apple's much awaited foldable iPhone.

For more than five years, we have been hearing of Apple working on a foldable iPhone, but, nothing materialised so far.

Now, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who has the most accurate track record on revealing key features of Apple products long before their launch, has got some credible information on the elusive foldable iPhone.

Apple is said to have finalised the design of the foldable iPhone and the OLED display will be supplied by Samsung Display, a pioneer in the field of bendable screen. For the last seven years, the South Korean technology major has been offering premium foldable smartphones.

For the foldable iPhone, Apple has set high-quality standards. Given the device will be priced higher than iPhone Pro models, Cupertino-based company has taken its own time for rigourous testing and ensure the display has high durability. The display is expected to have no visible crease at the centre when unfolded and a sturdy hinge to hold the two panels.

The foldable iPhone is expected to come in small book-like form factor similar to the Samsung's Galaxt Z Fold7. It is said to feature 5.5-inch cover display and inside, it is expected to sport a 7.8-inch foldable screen.

The cover display will be compact enough for single-handed use and the wide screen will be great for consuming multimedia content.

The new iOS 27 slated for launch in 2026 will ensure all the regular apps will be able to work seamlessly on the bendable wide screen similar to how they work on regular iPhone.

The foldable iPhone is expected to cost around $2000 (Rs 1,72,468) in the US market.
