Samsung sets date for Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event

South Korean technology major is expected to offer the new Galaxy S25 series in four variants-- Galaxy S24, S25 Plus, S25 Slim and S25 Ultra.

Samsung on Tuesday announced to host the company’s flagship hardware launch event Galaxy Unpacked 2025 on January 22.

Samsung set kick of Galaxy Unpacked 2025 in San Jose at 10:00 am PT (11:30 pm IST).

The company has made arrangements to live stream the programme on its official websites —Samsung.com/in, Samsung Newsroom India and Samsung’s YouTube channel.

Going by the previous years pattern, there is prize for guessing what Samsung has in store for fans at Galaxy Unpacked 2025. It is almost confirmed to bring the successor of the Galaxy S24 series.

However, there will be one surprise new addition to S25 series phones. Unlike the predecessor, which was offered in three variants— Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra, the company is expected to offer the new device in four variants-- Galaxy S24, S25 Plus, S25 Slim and S25 Ultra.

The Galaxy S25 Slim is the first of its kind in the Galaxy S series. The latter will come with a super thin frame. It is said to feature a 6.66-inch screen and will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a 4,700mAh battery.

It also features a triple camera module-- main 200MP+ 50MP ultrawide sensor + 50 MP telephoto lens-- with LED flash on the back.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is said to feature a 6.88-inch QHD+ (3120×1440p) Super AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, 12GB/16GB RAM, 256GB/512GB/1TB storage and a 5,000mAh battery.

It will also come with a triple-camera module-- a 200MP main sensor with a 12MP telephone lens and a 50MP camera--with LED flash.

The Galaxy S24 Plus will come with the same features as the S24 Slim but differ in battery capacity and camera.

The low-end Galaxy S24 is said come with a small 6.2-inch dynamic super AMOLED display, triple-camera module-- 50MP+12MP+10MP-- LED flash on the back, 12MP front camera, Android 15-based One Ui 7.0, 12GB RAM, 256GB/512GB storage, Exynos chipset (for international market)/Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset (in US/Canada/China) and a 4,000mAh battery with 25W charger.

Besides the big upgrade in terms of hardware, Samsung is expected to bring more generative Artificial Intelligence (gen AI)-based Galaxy AI features to photography app, productivity tools such as notes, translator app and more.
