It was followed by Xiaomi and since 2017, Cupertino-based technology major Apple has steadily increased the assembling of iPhones old and new models.</p>.<p>Now, reports have emerged that Google has similar plans to start local assembling of Pixel phones in India, <a href="https://telecom.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/google-doubling-down-on-pixel-strategy-in-india/81448091" target="_blank">The Economic Times</a> reported citing company insider.<br /><br />In 2020, the search engine giant received an overwhelming response to the Pixel 4a in India. Unlike the predecessor Pixel 3a, which was priced exorbitantly for a mid-range phone, the successor was much more affordable, and also the company offers additional discounts for a limited time, further driving the sales.</p>.<p>Due to constraints caused a pandemic, there was a shortage of Pixel 4a units and restocked multiple times throughout the year.</p>.<p>In 2021, the company wants to double down on its efforts ahead of the Pixel 5a launch, which is speculated to debut on June 11. It is reportedly studying the sales of Apple iPhones and OnePlus mobiles priced in the range of Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 to understand the Indian market.</p>.<p>If Google does start assembling Pixel phones, they will not be liable to pay any import duties and this reduces the price considerably and this benefits the consumers.</p>.<p>The upcoming <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/specials/google-pixel-5a-tipped-to-launch-in-june-960368.html" target="_blank">Pixel 5a</a> is likely to be priced similar to the popular Pixel 4a series, but Google has no intention to bring 5G phones just yet.
