Homestay Association secretary Madetira Thimmaiah has appealed to authorities to allow them to serve liquor to tourists at homestays.
The police personnel have stated that homestays in Kodagu cannot serve liquor once the code of conduct for Legislative Assembly election comes into force.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, he said that the police personnel had stated during a meeting that supply of liquor during the code of conduct period will amount to a non-bailable offence.
He said that the government should initiate action against unauthorised homestays and allow for liquor to be served at registered homestays. A memorandum will be submitted to the district administration, Thimmaiah said.
