In Andhra Pradesh, hundreds of vehicles and people were stranded, traffic was either closed or suspended in arterial highways and over 100 trains cancelled snapping rail-road link between southern and other parts of the country on Sunday as the Penna river in spate caused heavy destruction.
The death toll in rain-related incidents in different districts of Andhra Pradesh touched 33 as more bodies were retrieved from the flooded streams and at least 12 people were reported missing. (PTI)
A seven-member inter-ministerial team from the Union Government will visit 11 districts, including Chennai and Kanyakumari, on November 22 and 23 to assess the damage caused due to incessant rains that lashed the state in the past fortnight and subsequent floods.
Several trains were cancelled or diverted while hundreds of vehicles were stranded on Sunday as the main road and rail routes in Andhra Pradesh remained cut off due to floods.
Incessant rains have increased rates of vegetables in Karnataka, especially in Bengaluru where the price of tomato has almost touched Rs 100 per kg.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday said that all ministers of his government would travel torainbattered districts in the state and oversee relief work there.
He said a survey is on to estimate the damage and the compensation will be announced at the earliest.
"Several Ministers are in therainaffected districts as this was unseasonalrain. Some Ministers, who couldn't do so earlier, will also go. All Ministers will go to their districts," Bommai said.

The Chennai-Kolkata National Highway-16 had to be closed down for traffic in SPS Nellore district following a heavy breach of road at Padugupadu.
At least 17 Express trains were cancelled on the Chennai-Vijayawada grand trunk route as the flood overflowed on the railway track at Padugupadu.

24 people are confirmed dead and 17 are missing in various incidents related to the heavy rains and flooding in Rayalaseema and Nellore regions of Andhra Pradesh.
Six people, including three children, died in Kadiri town in Anantapuram district on Saturday when a building under construction collapsed on two adjacent houses.
More frustrating for citizens and civic authorities would be the reemergence of potholes on recently repaired roads as rains washed away asphalt. The civic body has asked for special grants under the state relief fund to fix the damage.
