76-year-old man in Kerala escapes unhurt as mobile phone explodes in shirt pocket

A 75-year-old man had a narrow escape after a mobile phone exploded in his shirt's pocket.

Elyas hailing from Marattichal in Thrissur district suffered minor burns on the chest.

A CCTV video footage of the mobile phone exploding in his pocket and his shirt catching fire has gone viral on social media.

The incident happened when he was having tea at a hotel. He, however, managed to put out the fire.

Elyas was reportedly using a local brand mobile phone.

Last month an eight-year-old girl died in Thiruvilwamala in the Thrissur district following a mobile phone explosion.
