Bypoll result victory of farmers: Abhay Chautala; BJP disagrees

INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala described his win in the Ellenabad bypolls on Tuesday as a victory of farmers, a claim rejected by the ruling BJP who said his low victory margin shows people negated the issue over which he resigned from the Assembly.

BJP retains Khandwa Lok Sabha seat with reduced margin

BJP candidate Gyaneshwar Patil on Tuesday won thebypollfrom the Khandwa Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh by defeating his nearest Congress rival, former MLA Rajnarayan Singh Purni, with a margin of 82,140 votes, a poll official said. Patil got 6,32,455 votes, while Purni bagged 5,50,315 ballots. Thus, the ruling party retained the seat albeit with a reduced margin.

The BJP has snatched Jobat (ST) Assembly constituency in Madhya Pradesh from Congress with the saffron party candidate Sulochana Rawat defeating her nearest rival Mahesh Patel by a margin of 6,104 votes in the bypoll, counting for which was held on Tuesday, officials said.

Rajasthan bypolls: Congress wins Vallabhnagar, Dhariawad Assembly seats

The ruling Congress in Rajasthan on Tuesday won the bypolls to the Vallabhnagar and Dhariawad Assembly segments.

The main opposition BJP not only lost the elections, its candidates stood third and fourth in the Dhariawad and Vallabhnagar segments, respectively.

Before the bypolls, the Dhariawad seat was represented by the BJP and Vallabhnagar by the Congress.

With the win, the tally of the Congress in the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly reached 108 against BJP’s 71 MLAs.
