Kerala reported its highest daily spike in Covid-19 cases so far; while the tally of fresh cases remained high in states like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, among others. India's recovery rate touched 82% & death rate stood at less than 1.6%. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said that India’s healthcare effectively kept Covid-19 mortality at 'minimum', recovery at 'maximum'. Covid-19 testing samples in Tamil Nadu hit new high

Chennai topped in the number of new cases today with 1,193 infections, followed by Coimbatore 661, Salem 297, Chengalpet 277, Cuddalore 235, Thiruvallur 229. Twelve districts also reported over 100 cases each. Chennai also came out on top in the number of cases recording 1,60,926 till date out of 5.69 lakh in the state.

    Karnataka reported 8,655 new Covid-19 cases, 5,644 discharges & 86 deaths today. The total number of cases in the state now stands at 5,57,212 including 98,474 active cases, 4,50,302 discharges & 8,417 deaths

    As of September 25 evening, cumulatively 5,57,212 Covid-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 8,417 deaths and 4,50,302 discharges, the health department said in its bulletin.

    It said, out of 98,474 active cases, 97,651 patients are in isolation at designated hospitals and stable, while 823 are in ICU.

    Uttar Pradesh reports 4,519 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the infection tally in the state to 3,78,533. Death toll climbs to 5,450 with 84 more fatalities being registered. The number of active cases stands at 59,397.

    Coronavirus mortality rate dips in Mumbai

    “Although Mumbai has been reporting a higher number of Covid-19 cases, the mortality rate in the city has come down over the last two months. The Case Fatality Rate, i.e. death due to Covid-19 as a percentage of total reported cases, has come down to 4.5% as against 5.8% during June,” BMC’s Additional Municipal Commissioner (Health) Suresh Kakani said.
