Excise policy: Delhi govt gave licenses to firms that paid 'hefty commissions' to AAP, alleges BJP

The BJP on Wednesday alleged the Delhi government ignored recommendations of a three-member expert panel set up to reform the liquor trade in the city and gave licences to companies that paid "hefty commissions" to the ruling AAP.

It alleged the AAP government did not follow the suggestions of its own panel to "gain an unfair advantage" in the Punjab polls and is now deflecting the BJP's questions on the issue.

At a press conference here, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is the "kingpin" of the liquor policy "scam" but he did not sign a single file in an attempt to avoid investigation.

Delhi CM and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal has summoned all AAP MLAs on August 25.

The meeting of the Union Cabinet is scheduled to be held tomorrow, on August 25 in Delhi.

The Congress alleged that "Kejriwal and company" have traversed the distance from honesty and transparency to corruption in a very short span of time and asked the AAP convenor why he was not sacking his tainted ministers.

Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Anil Chaudhary said that in the first FIR by the CBI, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been recognised as the "number one corrupt" and this is the certificate of AAP's "hardcore honesty".

AAP government ignored expert panel suggestions on excise policy to gain unfair advantage in Punjab polls: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday alleged that the Delhi government ignored recommendations of an expert panel set up to reform liquor trade in the capital to "gain unfair advantage" in the Punjab polls.

Addressing a press conference here, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said the Delhi government handed over wholesale liquor business to private players despite the expert panel recommending against it. He also said the city government allowed 'cartelisation' in liquor business by giving multiple retail licenses to big companies. Patra said the AAP is now trying to deflect BJP's questions on malpractices in the implementation of excise policy. (PTI)

MLAs threatened, offered bribes to break party, this is serious matter: Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said some of his MLAs have approached him alleging that they have been threatened and offered bribes to break the party and the AAP's political affairs committee will meet on Wednesday to take stock of the situation.

ED raids multiple locations in Delhi-NCR, including school

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting raids at multiple locations, including a school in Delhi-NCR in connection with the prevention of money laundering case involving state Health Minister Satyendar Jain and others.

The school where a CBI team had arrived is located in Delhi's Dwarka. The school authority sent messages to the parents to take back their kids by 10.40 am.(IANS)

Kejriwal announces recruitment calendar in poll-bound Gujarat

Delhi Chief Minister ArvindKejriwal, who was in Gujarat along with his deputy Manish Sisodia as part of the Aam Aadmi Party's campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections, announced a recruitment calendar for 2023 if AAP comes to power in the state.

Kejriwalalso promised to hold Talati (village panchayat secretary) exams in February 2023 if voted to power, the results of which will be out in April and in the same month appointment orders will be issued. He made similar announcements for teachers, and for ASI and PSI posts.

'Files being sent to L-G for opinion, approval without CM Kejriwal's signature'

Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has sent a note to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal flagging that files without the latter's signature were being sent by the CMO for his opinion and approval, L-G office sources said on Tuesday.
