The case involving the death of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar last week in Haryana has gotten even murkier as another death by suicide of a policeman was reported on Tuesday. Speculations are rife over the death of one Sandeep Kumar, posted as an assistant sub-inspector in Rohtak's cyber cell. Sandeep reportedly made a video before dying by suicide where he levelled corruption charges against Puran.

This comes even as the State government is facing increasing pressure from all quarters over the death of Puran on October 7.

Puran (52), who was recently posted as Inspector-General of Police, Police Training Centre, at Sunaria in Rohtak, was found with a gunshot wound in his Chandigarh home.

Sandeep's body was found in a room built near an agricultural field in Rohtak's Ladhot village. He was reportedly probing a corruption case against Puran. Sandeep said in a suicide note and a video message that he was sacrificing his life for "truth", reports said.

Sandeep alleged that Puran was a "corrupt cop" and died by suicide when he got fearful that his graft cases would be exposed. Sandeep, in his video, also proclaimed support for former Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya, who was transferred after Puran's death.

The police who reached the spot where Sandeep's body was found have begun their investigation.

"This was a hardworking ASI of our Police Department, Sandeep. He was very honest and hardworking. His body has been found. A Forensic team has been called here and an investigation is being carried out...He was posted in the cyber cell,' Rohtak SP Surendra Singh Bhoria said.

The Haryana government late Monday night sent State DGP Shatrujeet Kapur on leave. Before that, the government transferred Bijarniya.

The two are among the eight senior officers named in a final note purportedly left behind by Puran. He had accused them of "blatant caste-based discrimination, targeted mental harassment, public humiliation and atrocities".
